BVBA Veterinary Studies Award

The British Veterinary Behaviour Association Veterinary Studies Award 2018

Recognising a need to support the study of behaviour by students enrolled for Higher Education qualifications in the veterinary profession, we are delighted to announce the brand new ‘BVBA Veterinary Studies Award’.

This award is being run by BVBA and institutions with BVBA Champions have been invited to nominate applicants. Therefore, we are not currently offering open nominations from other institutions.

Who is eligible to apply for this award?
Students registered as studying a Higher Education veterinary medicine or veterinary nursing degree accredited by the RCVS based at a UK institution.  Higher Education degrees are defined as those that on completion would enable the student to enter the RCVS register as a veterinary surgeon; and for veterinary nurses, to enter the RCVS Register of Veterinary Nurses.

What is the application process?
Institutions offering Higher Education veterinary courses have been invited to nominate ONE of their students for a chance to receive the award.  Institutions may use whatever selection process they prefer to identify a student they would like to nominate.  Accompanying the institution’s nomination, the student will need to prepare a personal statement of no more than 1000 words telling us:
  • Why are you interested in behaviour?
  • How is behaviour relevant to the veterinary profession?
  • What would receiving this award mean to you?

Institutions can inform the BVBA of their nomination by sending a completed nomination form and the student’s personal statement to bvba@outlook.com by midnight Sunday 14th January 2018.

All nominations will be reviewed by the BVBA Veterinary Studies Award judging panel.  Winners will be announced by the end of February 2018 and invited to attend BVBA Study Day on Wednesday 4th April 2018.

How do students apply?
Students will be advised to contact their institution’s BVBA Champion for further information.  The application details and the judging criteria for nominees’ personal statements are available below.
